I saw this at the Hood Museum in Dartmouth! Pretty. Sorry I don't know the name. I'll find out if you really want me to.

More about the release

Commentary on the intersection between gender trouble and the meaning of words. This is intended to provoke our sense of what gender is but also to empower curiosity about this enormously strange topic. This essay states a few things that on the surface might appear to contradict: --There are right and wrong ways to use words that are loaded with subjectivity. --"Man" and "Woman" have specific definitions (defined in the essay). --These definitions can't change overnight even if we wanted them to. --To be rational means giving people grace and patience, not only when they make sincere mistakes but even when they are willfully ignorant about things like gender or art or religion or red-ness.

CONSENSUS and GENDER

Created by

Who cares if we agree what art is? People still love a crazy looking sculpture even if they aren't sure whether it's art, or even whether it's beautiful. Then why do we care so much about understanding gender? Is it not enough to "move on" from gender and just respect people for who they are? Let's talk about it.
